Lot description: Great Britain "Death of James Prinsep" bronze Medal 1840 MS63 Brown NGC, BHM-1967 (RRR), Pudd-840.1.1 (RR). 49mm. By W. Wyon. The only example certified at NGC. James Prinsep, a distinguished architect and orientalist, served as the Assay Master at the Calcutta Mint from 1832 to 1838. During his tenure, he played a significant role in standardizing India's weights and measures and reforming the coinage system to establish a uniform currency based on the East India Company's rupee.
