| Lot description: CUBA, large aluminum pattern 25 pesos, 1976, Fidel Castro, 26th of July Movement, NGC MS 62 (oversized slab), finest and only example in NGC census. KM-unl. This design was struck by the Central de Numismática y Medallística de Mexico but never issued for circulation, and to our knowledge only two of these patterns exist, the other in silver and sold in Sedwick Auction 34, both with unique three-quarters portrait of Castro as the main feature but this aluminum pattern different in that the portrait is glossy against matte fields (basically proof), that side with light wipe of polish but the reverse showing a very subtle toning in green and pink, "0550" in retrograde appearing on the edge.
