Lot description: CANADA, Province of Nova Scotia, copper penny token, George IV, 1824, three top thin locks, ex-Moore, ex-Baker. Breton-868; Courteau-261; NS-2A2; KM-2. 17.30 grams. AU- with choice bold strike, glossy mocha fields with dark brown details. The Nova Scotia "thistle" tokens were struck without British authority officially to replace withdrawn private issues. Pedigreed to the Warren Baker Collection of Canadian coins and tokens and to the Moore Collection (10/2009). Estimate: $200 - $300 |
