| Lot description: COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 8 escudos, 1744 assayer S below E to right, mintmark F below denomination 8 to left, rare. Restrepo-M84.4; S-B27; KM-24; Cal-2256; Fr-6. 26.96 grams. Very bold full shield and cross enhanced by deep red toning in crevices, clear date and PHILIPPVS in legend, the latter outside of full assayer S below trace of E (for Escudos), the 8-F to left weaker but still evident, bold XF+ with mount removed from edge, fully round and somewhat Royal-like in detail.
