| Lot description: PERU, Lima, gold cob 8 escudos, 1701 H, posthumous Charles II, extremely rare. S-L25; KM-26.2; Cal-931; Fr-1. 26.62 grams total. Bright yellow gold in AU- grade with well-centered full cross, full but slightly off-center pillars-and-waves, bold C.II for Charles II in legend, and nice clear date and assayer, one of just two known for this date and king (the other without C.II visible) with clean final digit and not 1/0, with loop mounted on top for wearing as a pendant.
