MEXICO, Mexico City, gold cob 4 escudos, 1714 J, NGC MS 65 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label), "top pop" in NGC census, ex-Schulman. S-M30; KM-55.2; Cal-2029; Fr-7a. 13.53 grams. Choice luster and sharp details befitting its highest-graded status (currently tied with five others at NGC), including full cross, nearly full but off-center shield with very bold full crown above and bold full 714 of date in legend, some peripheral beveling on reverse as made. From the 1715 Fleet, with original Fisher photo-certificate PC16-31542, pedigreed to the Schulman auction of November 1972, lot 482. (Pedigree found by Charle Winn from The 1715 Fleet Society)
