Lot description: The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. George IV. 1820-1830. Pattern AR Halfcrown. Dated 1823. Laureate bust right with deeply cut edge ties / Crowned coat-of-arms; thistle to left, three shamrocks to right, rose below. cf. SCBC 3807 (this coin pictured to illustrate the type) Bull 2383; ESC 652. A jewel-like pattern. Blazing brilliance under spectacular rich toning. Extremely rare. In NGC encapsulation 2153526-010, graded PF 63. Conservatively graded by NGC in our opinion. Estimate: 4000 CHF |
