The Peace of Utrecht which formally ended the War of Spanish Succession that had raged for some 14 years across much of the globe, was met by an outpouring of universal joy. Numerous medals commemorate the event including this particularly fine one by Croker issued by the Royal Mint. The new peaceful age is alluded to in several of the rare pattern farthing issues dated 1713 and 1714 which Cope formed a focussed collection of. See the following lots.
