Lot description: The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Charles II. 1660-1685. AR Crown. Dated 1662. First bust, rose below. Stop after HIB. Edge lettering between two lines of beading. Crowns with cross bars. Broad tie-type AB.3; Bull 340; ESC 15A; SCBC 3350 (this coin illustrated). A very handsome example of the first milled silver Crown. Well struck and with excellent surfaces. Toned. Exceptional and very rare in this high grade. Top Pop. In NGC encapsulation 2153870-026, graded MS 61. Ex Inveruglas (Noble 48, 11 July 1995), lot 4460, purchased from Spink Auction, May 1988.
