Lot description: The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. The Commonwealth, 1649-1660. AR Crown (44.5mm, 30.04 g, 4h). London mint; im: sun. Dated 1654. Coat-of-arms within wreath of palm frond and olive branch / Two coats-of-arms. Bull, Silver 8; ESC 7; North 2721; SCBC 3214. A few contact marks under attractive grey toning. Traces of underlying brilliance. Near EF. A very round and well struck example for this date. Rare as such. Ex N. Asherson (Spink 6, 10 October 1979), lot 127, purchased from Spink, March 1957; H.
