Lot description: The Geoffrey Cope Collection of British Coins. Charles I 'Fine Work' Shillings of the Tower Mint. AR Halfcrown (35.5mm, 15.26 g, 2h). Declaration type. Bridgnorth-on-Severn mint; im: plumelet. Dated 1646. Charles on horseback left, holding sword and reins; plumes to right and below / RE : PRO :/ LE : AN : LI : PA :/ 1646; above, three plumes over ornamental scroll; plumelet below. Morrieson, Lundy B-6; Bull 650/6 (this coin cited and illustrated); Brooker 1125 (this coin); North 2517; SCBC 3038. Minimal doubling for this usually poorly struck issue.
