Crowned IR; roses to left and below, thistle to right / Crowned portcullis. Peck 115; North 2142. Deeply toned with flashes of lustre. EF. Very rare. Ex Spink 212 (28 March 2012), lot 523; R.C. Carlyon-Britton Collection This charming pattern bears a close resemblance to some of the late pattern issues of Elizabeth (see lot 1215). It was presumably struck early in the reign.
