| Lot description: Romania Carol I silver Matte Proof Pattern 12-1/2 Lei 1906 PR66 NGC, Brussels mint, KM-Pn120, Schäffer/Stambuliu-060-1.3 (var). A stunning silver striking of this unusual one-year denomination, not listed as a Matte version in Schäffer/Stambuliu, but clearly struck as such on this specimen. Preserved through the years with astounding care and pride, practically no contact marks have abraded the surfaces, just gentle areas of darker gray patina. A more prized emission from the vast array of Romanian pattern examples, likely one of the finest extant examples of the type, certified or not.
