The War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714), a pivotal conflict over the Spanish throne's succession, pitted the Grand Alliance (including the Holy Roman Empire, Great Britain, and the Dutch Republic) against the Bourbon alliance of France and Spain. It concluded with the Treaties of Utrecht and Rastatt, recognizing Philip V as king of Spain while redistributing European territories to maintain the balance of power and prevent the unification of France and Spain. https://coins.ha.com/itm/austria/austria-karl-vi-silver-war-of-the-spanish-succession-medal-1714-ms63-ngc-/a/3115-32379.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchives-WorldCoins-3115-05082024 HID02906262019 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved |
