Lot description: India British India. Victoria silver Proof Pattern Early Restrike 1/2 Rupee 1849 PR64 NGC, Royal mint, KM-PnF13, S&W-3.43. Reeded edge variety. One year type, dies not used for circulation. An undoubtedly scarce Early Restrike Pattern issue of Victoria, and confirmed by the paucity of certified examples, numbering at only two examples certified by NGC. The detailing and artistry showcased by William Wyon only proves his renown in British numismatics, providing viewers with a visual delight that captivates nearly 200 years later. Victoria's youthful portrait is beautifully illuminated with a veil of champagne-tangerine hues, juxtaposed by an aquamarine-teal ring that lays upon the circumference of the obverse. The reverse features a similar color palette, heavy in deep teal. Overall, this near-Gem offering is sure to impress enthusiasts of very elusive Victorian issues. https://coins.ha.com/itm/india/british-india/india-british-india-victoria-silver-proof-pattern-early-restrike-1-2-rupee-1849-pr64-ngc-/a/3115-31251.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchives-WorldCoins-3115-05082024 HID02906262019 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved Estimate: 3000-4000 USD |
