| Lot description: Great Britain George IV gold 1/2 Sovereign 1821 MS62 NGC, KM689, S-3802, Marsh-403 (R3). A one-year type, the 1821 half Sovereign was quickly withdrawn due to its similarity to the sixpence. Only 231,288 coins were struck leaving this design very elusive and rarely seen on the market. This near-Choice offering is bright, untoned, and precisely struck; and given that it is the first example of the type we have offered in nearly 3 years we believe it will, deservedly, be heavily contested.
