| Lot description: Great Britain George III gold Mint Error - Medal Alignment Sovereign 1817 VF35 PCGS, KM674, S-3785, Marsh-1B (R4). Medal alignment variety. A well-circulated specimen, nonetheless a notable rarity as a mint error struck with upright die axis. The example in the Bentley collection was cataloged as "cleaned and gilt" which renders the present selection superior as a straight-graded piece. Very few are known to exist, making this a most intriguing addition to any advanced Sovereign collection.
