He became Governor of Azarbaijan in 1798 at the age of 10. Abbas Mirza developed a reputation as a military commander during the Russo-Persian and Ottoman-Persian wars between 1804 and 1828. He died on October 25, 1833, in Mashhad. Prince Abbas Mirza (1789-1833) was the second son of Fath-'Ali Shah Qajar and chosen to follow his father on the throne of Persia.
