Nader Shah (1688-1747), son of Emam Qoli, was enthroned on March 8, 1736. He was assassinated in 1747 by his own commanders
The Afsharid Dynasty, which emerged in 1736, was founded by Nader Shah Afshar. His military prowess allowed him to carve out a vast empire that stretched from the Caucasus to Central Asia and from the Indian subcontinent to the Persian Gulf.

Under Nader Shah's rule, the Afsharid Dynasty experienced a brief but remarkable period of territorial expansion and centralized administration. Nader Shah's military campaigns brought immense wealth and cultural treasures to Persia, including the famed Peacock Throne and the Koh-i-Noor diamond.

However, the empire's rapid expansion also brought significant challenges, including internal dissent, external pressures from neighbouring powers, and revolts in distant territories. Nader Shah's assassination in 1747 marked the beginning of the dynasty's decline, as his successors struggled to maintain control over the vast territories he had conquered.

The Afsharid Dynasty's rule came to an end in 1796 with the rise of local rulers and the emergence of new Persian dynasties, notably the Zand Dynasty and later the Qajar Dynasty. Despite its relatively short duration, the Afsharid Dynasty left a lasting legacy in Persian history, particularly through its military achievements, cultural advancements, and the centralization of power during Nader Shah's reign.
While this coin formerly was assigned to Tahmasp II, according to the current state of knowledge this coin is to be assigned to Nader Shah as viceroy.
