Lot description:

PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Colombia. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Isabel II. PCGS Genuine--Scratch, EF Details; Countermark: EF Details.
KM-109; Basso-56; PNM#6-217; PNM#16-199; PNM#21-VIII-28; Cacho-IX-CS-006; Gil-5-4-3-III. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834, suppressed 31 March 1837 (by decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark: Type VI, crowned Y.II. in incuse circle. Applied to the obverse of a 1835-Ba RS Colombia Republic 8 Reales (KM-89). This handsome example exhibits even wear displaying attractive mottled patina with a slight iridescent sheen. The countermark is boldly applied with clear diagnostics of the punch on a nicely preserved host. Close inspection reveals several small scratches on the reverse accounting for the details designation, now toned over matching the rest of the coin. Despite its shortcomings a handsome example of the type.

Estimate: $1000 - $1500
