Lot description:

PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Peru. 8 Reales, ND (1832-34). Manila Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, VF Details; Countermark: VF Details.
KM-80; Basso-55; PNM#6-55; PNM#16-142; PNM#21-VI-104; Cacho-VIII-CS-018; Gil-5-4-1-C. Issued by decree of 2 October 1832, commencing 5 October 1832 until 20 December 1834. Countermark: Type V, crowned F.7.0 with circular indent. Applied to the obverse of a 1822-LIMA JP Peru "Libre" 8 Reales, short tassels above date variety (KM-136). This decently preserved example displays light gray tone with richer patina in the protected areas and crevasses. The countermark is somewhat shallow and uneven, but is easily attributed. Close inspection reveals evidence of some surface porosity and an old cleaning accounting for the details designation. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of the ever popular host type.

Estimate: $1000 - $1500
