PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Mexico. 8 Reales, ND (ca. 1833-34). Manila Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS Genuine--Damage (Chopmarked), EF Details; Countermark: AU Details.
KM-74; Basso-55; PNM#6-Unlisted; PNM#16-Unlisted; PNM#21-Unlisted; Cacho-Unlisted; Gil-5-4-!-B. Issued by decree of 2 October 1832, commencing 5 October 1832 until 20 December 1834. Countermark: Type V, crowned F.7.0 with circular indent. Applied to the obverse of a 1831-Pi JS Mexico Republic 8 Reales (KM-37712).This decently preserved example exhibits a bold countermark, though slightly flattened due to being chopped on the reverse, on a wholesome host with remaining luster in the protected areas. Wholesome looking with mottled slate and gray patina offering a pleasing appearance. An EXTREMELY RARE host mint for this countermark with few recorded examples know to us.
