Lot description:

INDIA. Madras Presidency. 2 Rupees, AH 1172 Year 6 (1807). Arkat (Arcot) Mint. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details.
KM-404.2; Prid-245 (this coin plated). Struck posthumously in the name of Alamgir II in 1807 over an uncertain Spanish colonial 8 Reales. An especially handsome example of the type, this crown offers a bold strike and well-preserved design elements along with a hint of the undertype visible. Though cleaned long ago, the coin features a deep charcoal gray tone with some surviving brilliance that more than makes up for its shortcomings.

Estimate: $1200 - $2000
