| Lot description: INDIA. Sultans of Bengal. Tanka, ND (AH 821-36 [1418-32]). "Ismir Jamalpur" Mint. Jalal al-Din Muhammad. NGC AU-55. G&G-B350 (RRR) (This Coin Plated). An EXTREMELY RARE Bengal Sultanate issue, this example is featured in the Gordon and Goenka book, and its inscription bears an uncertain mint that is partially cut off. Other examples of this mint do not seem forthcoming, leaving this as amongst the RAREST opportunity in the Sultanate series. This Tanka is nicely presented, with charming tone and limited signs of handling seen throughout. Estimate: $1500 - $3000 |  |
