Lot description: GREAT BRITAIN. Anne Coronation Gold Medal, 1702. London Mint. PCGS AU-50. MI-228/4; Eimer-390. By J. Croker. Mintage: 858. Diameter: 35mm; Weight: 18.61 gms. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust left; Reverse: Anne (as Pallas-Athena) standing right, holding shield and hurling thunderbolt at two-headed and four-armed serpentine monster (James 'III' and Louis XIV) to right, holding rocks and clubs. A tremendous allegorical issue, this coronation issue for the final Stuart monarch presents some even wear across the high points, but nevertheless remains original and with some burnished hues throughout.
