Lot description:

GREAT BRITAIN. Charles II Coronation Gold Medal, 1661. London Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-60.
MI-472/76; Eimer-221. By T. Simon. Diameter: 29mm. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust right, wearing Chain of the Garter; Reverse: Charles, wearing royal robes, seated left on throne, being crowned by Victory flying to right from above. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just a single example (a SPECIMEN-62 that realized a total of $37,200 in our August 2020 ANA auction), this enchanting specimen remains without any breaks to the luster, though some scattered hairlines and friction marks account for the overall designation. Nevertheless, a wondrous opportunity for an early coronation issue.

Estimate: $7500 - $15000
