Lot description:

GIBRALTAR. Gibraltar - Mexico. 1/2 Bit, ND (ca. 1770-74). George III. NGC VF Details--Damaged.
KM-16 (Martinique); Prid-20 (Dominica). Countermark: Type IV bifacial; blunt heart-shaped cut-out with ornamented edges on both sides. Applied to a 1749-Mo M Mexico pillar 1/2 Real of Philip V (KM-66). A pleasing and presentable 1/2 Bit, this piece displays a bold punch, with decent retained details on the undertype. The damage while present, does not marr the coin too badly, and leaves this representative as a good example for the collector seeking a more affordable representative of the type.

Estimate: $800 - $1200
