cf. Goodman, Lot#1780; cf. L&M-839 (for prototype); K-1267 (for prototype); KM-Y-45.2 (for prototype). Weight: 36.5 gms. Highly reflective over the surfaces with engraving that is similar yet in a different style from the originals. In the Goodman auction (Superior Galleries - June 1991) an example from the same dies was cataloged as:

"TIHWA. 1 Tael, dated in Chinese 7th Year (1918). K-1267. Rosette at top between branches. Plain edge. A superb well struck example with prooflike and brilliant surfaces. Rare in the high quality. UNCIRCULATED. ($1000 - UP)

The best quality piece that our consignor has seen in 30 years of collecting. This coin may be an essay or specimen strike. Priced in 1966 Kann Catalogue at $450."
