Lot description:

(t) CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 25 (1899). Tientsin (East Arsenal) Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS MS-63.
L&M-454; K-196; KM-Y-73; WS-0624. Surpassed in the PCGS census by just three other examples, this incredibly attractive and inviting "Dragon Dollar" yields a mostly almond-gray aspect to its sublime argent nature, with great lustrous brilliance abounding from the fields. Meanwhile, the strike is sharp and well executed, further elevating its eye appeal. Compare to a similar example, also a PCGS MS-63--though with bolder coloring, that realized a total of $84,000 in our September 2021 Hong Kong auction (Lot # 22045).

Estimate: $40000 - $60000
