Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1723-H MS61 NGC, La Rochelle mint, KM468.7, Fr-459, Gad-338 (R2), Dup-1638A. Short palms/branches variety. Mintage: 18,000. A very minimally available type outside of specialized collections, found here in the remarkable "Top Pop" grade out of only two from NGC. The handsome, lemon-gold surfaces are accented by deeper hues of amber, allowing the faces to truly radiate when viewed in hand. This stunning offering is sure to garner significant interest from those who truly appreciate the uncommon combination of visual grandeur, a Le Chameau shipwreck provenance, a "Top Pop" designation, and incredible rarity.

Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1724-Z MS62 NGC, Grenoble mint, KM470.24, Dup-1638. Long Palms variety. Boasting the "Top Pop" grade designation from NGC, whilst being tied with two others within, this near-Choice and elusive issue stems from only a two-year mintage. Grenoble serves as a notoriously popular mint for any of the gold issues of the "quatre Louis", especially when examples are found in a Mint State level of preservation. The surfaces appear almost matte here, dawning a beautiful champagne-gold hue on both sides to effortlessly accent the full legends and motifs. Overall, an outstanding specimen that is sure to interest even the most discerning collectors of the Le Chameau shipwreck and early French gold issues.

Louis XIV gold Louis d'Or 1691-D MS65 NGC, Lyon mint, KM278.3, Fr-429. Gad-250. A rather elusive type that is found here in the coveted Gem designation and has the further exclusivity of being tied with only one other for the "Top Pop" specimen at NGC. The obverse of this superb coin features a finely detailed effigy of King Louis XIV with surrounding legends. His visage is depicted in a handsome and regal fashion, reflecting the authority and grandeur he wielded during his seven-decade reign. This offering is made even more alluring with the beauty of the golden canvas it embodies, creating an numismatic analogy to Louis XIV's nickname, the "Sun King".
