| Lot description: South Africa Griquatown. Victoria copper Proof Pattern Penny 1890 PR63 Red and Brown NGC, Berlin mint, KM-X8 (prev. KM-Pn5), Hern-GT20. C.S. Lauer series, struck by Messrs. Otto Nolte & Co. An adorable example of this fleeting issue described as 'salesman sample' by Hern, with an estimated mintage of 100 pieces. The iconic dove of London Missionary Society adorning the reverse is struck with delicate crispness.
