Lot description: Lady Jane Grey (1537-1554), the "Nine Days' Queen", 10 - 19 July 1553, fantasy silver medal, 1553, by Edward Emery, mm. sun in majesty on rev., crowned bust left, IOAN DG ANG FR ET HIB REGINA MDLIII, rev. crowned Tudor rose, I - R to either side, IN TERRIS ANG ET HIB ECCLES CAPVT SVPREM, 31.5mm (Pagan, H. E., Mr. Emery's Mint, BNJ 1971, 87), extremely fine Pagen, published a comprehensive listing of Emery's forgeries and fantasies including two varieties of the Lady Jane medal, which would have been made and marketed prior to 1842, when The Times exposed him as "an impudent and unprincipled forger".
