| Lot description: SPANISH NETHERLANDS. Antwerp. Silver Proclamation Medal (Jeton), 1702. VERY FINE. Her-10. Diameter: 25mm. Obverse: Armored bust of Philip, right, perimeter legend, hand (privy mark of the Antwerp Mint) and "R" below bust; Reverse: Coastal scene, radiant sun at left, cloud, hill, and hilltop fortress at right, exergue legend. A swearing-in ceremony was held on 21 February 1702 and each deputy in attendance was given a copy of this medal. Upon the public reading of the proclamation, examples of this medal were "thrown" to the people of Brussels. Argent gray surfaces with moderate wear and scattered marks. Estimate: $80 - $150 |  |
