| Lot description: ITALY. Papal (Vatican City). Pius XI/Canonizations of Year XIII Silver Medal, Year XIII (1934/5). Rome Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-65. Rinaldi-128. By A. Mistruzzi. Diameter: 44mm. Obverse: Bust right, wearing mantum, pallium, and zucchetto; Reverse: Kneeling figures of the seven saints canonized during this regnal year: Maria Micaela Desmaisieres, Louise de Marillac, Giuseppe Benedetto Cottolengo, Pompilio Maria Pirrotti, Teresa Margaret of the Sacred Heart, John Bosco, and Conrad of Parzham. Some hues of violet highlight the obverse of this matte Gem. One other saint was canonized in the calendar year of 1934, but this occurred during regnal year XII of Pius XI (Joan Antidea Thouret) and, as such, is not included here. Estimate: $100 - $200 |  |
