| Lot description: GREECE. Otho, 1832-1862. 10 Lepta 1836 (Copper, 28 mm, 12.68 g, 12 h), Athens, struck from dies by K. Lange, reeded edge. BΑΣΙΛΕΙA ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned shield bearing the coat of arms of Greece with the Wittelsbach arms at the center. Rev. 10 ΛΕΠΤΑ 1836 Denomination and date in three lines within a laurel wreath tied above and below. Divo 18b. Karamitsos 73. KM 17. Graded by NGC "XF 45 BN". Cert number: 2908890-012. From the El-Greco Collection of Modern Greek Rarities. In the year 1836 the Athens Mint introduced three new denominations into circulation-namely, the 10, 5 and 2 Lepta. Notably, the 2 and 5 Lepta were produced in significantly lower mintages, rendering them, for numismatists, respectively rare and extremely rare.
