ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. 12 Nummi (Bronze, 17 mm, 6.12 g, 6 h), struck under 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Marwan, governor of Egypt from AD 685-705. Crowned and cuirassed bust facing; in field to right, star; below star, uncertain letter. Rev. Monogram of Marwan ibn al-Hakam, flanked by I and B; in exergue, ABA[Z]. D. Woods: A Note on the Arab-Byzantine Dodecanummium Struck in the Name of 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Marwan, in Israel Numismatic Research 16 (2021), p. 244, Fig. 2a. Very rare.
