Lot description:

2022 Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Piedfort Platinum 5 Pounds. Coronation Obverse. Queen Elizabeth II. Trial of the Pyx Test Piece. #1 of 8. Jessopp Facsimile Signature Label. Brilliant Proof (NGC).
94.20 g of .9995 Fine Platinum. 38.61mm. Maximum Mintage: 82. This is a stunning and elusive rarity celebrating the Queen's seven decades as the head of the British monarchy struck in a sizeable Platinum format. Produced as a piedfort, it boasts double-thickness compared to the standard coin and is among the most desirable mementos struck for this occasion. It features a commemorative portrait of The Queen created by John Bergdahl, who took inspiration from previous equestrian portraits of Her Majesty, adding the royal garter to create a truly unique portrait. The reverse features an elaborate royal mantle design which was inspired by the mantle, or robe, worn by Her Majesty at the coronation in 1953 and also by the designs on the coinage of King William IV. The coin's broad edge displays the inscription SERVE YOU ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE which was inspired by Her Majesty's 1952 Christmas message. It is #1 of only 8 examples presented from the Trial of the Pyx.

From a Collection of Historic Test Pieces from the 2023 Trial of the Pyx, Presented on Behalf of The Royal Mint.
