It was struck to celebrate seventy years of service by Queen Elizabeth II and represents the first Platinum Jubilee to be assayed through the Trial of the Pyx. The obverse depicts a special commemorative portrait of Her Majesty The Queen, while the reverse features an elaborate royal mantle design which was inspired by the coinage of King William IV.
