ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Æthelred II. 978-1016. AR Penny (21mm, 1.62 g, 6h). First Hand type (BMC iib, Hild. B1c). Norwich mint; Leofing, moneyer. Struck circa 979-985. Diademed and draped bust right / + LIVI(NC) MONETΛ NORÐPIC, manus Dei descending from clouds; barred ω Λ flanking. North 766 var. (rev. legend); SCBC 1144. Toned. VF. An attractive coin with exceptionally full reverse legends.

From the Steve Green Collection. Ex A. Williams (Part IV, Spink 259, 29 January 2019), lot 506; Dolphin Coins FPL (August 1993), no. 5061. Apparently found around York circa March/April 1992 as part of a hoard, all of this type.
