| Lot description: German States Mainz. Sede Vacante silver 1/4 Schautaler 1732-Dated MS62 NGC, Zepernick-Unl. 7.43gm. A quite unusual and especially elusive type, where those of the full, 1/2, and 1/8 Schautaler weight are significantly easier to locate, with this cataloger only finding three instances in as many decades for this size and weight. Wonderfully preserved and yielding an enviable quality across the series, produced to exactly calculation. Immense gloss coats the attractive cabinet tone, making for a most desirable example for the specialist. Ex.
