Lot description: RASULID: al-Mujahid 'Ali, 1322-1363, AV dinar (4.82g), 'Adan, AH7x1, A-M1108, obverse has the royal legend al-sultan al-malik al-mujahid sayf al-Islam 'ali bin al-malik al-mu'ayyad da'ud followed by the mint & date, but the middle digit of the date is weak; extended religious legends on the reverse; some minor nicks at the rims, but overall very attractive, EF, RRR. Only AH735 and 759 have been published, but the final "one" is very clear on this piece. Most examples of this type have been found in India, not surprising since 'Adan (Aden) was one of the principal ports along the route from the Red Sea and East Africa to Iran and India. Estimate: 1 500-2 000 USD Starting price: 1200 USD |
