Lot description: IRELAND. Sixpenny Groat, ND (1540-42). London Mint; mm: Trefoil. Henry VIII. NGC MS-61. S-6480. Second issue. weight: 2.47 gms. Obverse: Crowned harp; crowned h-R across field; Reverse: Crowned coat-of-arms over long cross fourchee. Struck in the later portion of the famous reign of Henry VIII, this fractional issue presents a pleasing tone and solid strike, though some minor unevenness to the edges is noted. RARE as a Mint State survivor; we note that the only other certified Mint State example of this ruler and denomination we have offered, an S-6472 in PCGS MS-62, sold for $4,800 including buyer's premium in our January 2022 auction.
