Lot description:

MOZAMBIQUE. Mozambique - Mexico. 8 Reales, ND (1765). Jose I. NGC EF-45.
cf. KM-28; Gomes-Jo.28; Azevedo-pg. 29. Issued by decree of 20 August 1765 under Governor Baltazar Manoel Pereira do Lago. Countermark: Ligate MR incuse. Applied to the reverse of a 1756-Mo MF Mexico pillar 8 Reales of Ferdinand VI (KM-104.2). This nicely preserved and attractive example displays lovey old envelope patina with plenty remaining luster and a slight iridescent sheen. The countermark is deeply impressed on a wholesome host with even wear. A pleasant example of the type with good eye appeal.

Ex: Clyde Hubbard Collection.

Estimate: $1000 - $1500
