The following observation was appended to the PAS record: This is the first 'Cross-and-Lozenge' Penny found in Gloucestershire (see Naylor 2022 (in Naylor and Standley 2022): 221-5). There are two main styles for the 'Cross-and-Lozenge' coinage struck both of which are outside of the mainstream styles attributed to Canterbury, London and Winchester, and it has been argued that they may have been struck in western or southern Mercia, perhaps at Oxford (Naylor 2002 (in Naylor and Standley 2022): 96). This coin shares an obverse die link with EMC 2020.0402 [Semington, February 2020].
Estimate: £10000 - £12000
