Anglo-Frisian, in the style of Louis the Pious (c. 814-840), Pale AV Solidus, c. 830, in imitation of Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen), +DVVNNIVIIVIIII, some letters retrograde, laureate, draped bust right, with incised hair and trefoil of pellets for eye, rev. DIVINIVIIVIIVZ, cross pattée in 'suspended wreath', 4.28g, 11h (cf. Prou 1076; cf. BMC Carolingians 78; MEC -), cracked through but together, with porosity and details blundered, a rare example of the fledgling 'English' gold specie, struck details about very fine, albeit much as struck, and of numismatic importance.
