Lot description: Iron Age Britain, Cantiaci, Amminus (AD 30-40), AR Unit, 'Plant' Type, 'Duno' Mint, AMM-INVS outwards commencing at 4 o'clock, plant at centre breaking inner ring, rev. winged Griffin trotting right, head turned facing, DVN on ground line below, 0.77g, 1h, 11.52 mm x 0.88mm. diameter / thickness (PAS KENT-27EAEC this coin; VA 192; Mack 313; BMC 2522; ABC 456; Spink 188), slightly off-struck on an elliptical flan, a hint of field porosity, otherwise lightly toned and handsomely lustrous, a pleasing very fine, very rare, and with a securely contextualised British findspot.
