| Lot description: German States Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Adolf Friedrich III Taler 1717 AU53 NGC, Lubeck mint, KM-Unl, Dav-2444, Hann-46. An astounding "Reformation" Taler emission, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the historical movement. Minting quality issues, which ultimately led to the engraver Julius Arensburg to withdraw from the coin business, resulted in low surviving populations. The first of this type to cross our auction block, we are pleased it could be a specimen as wholesome and attractive as this example. Ex.
