| Lot description: German States Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Adolf Friedrich III Taler 1717 AU55 NGC, Lubeck mint, KM-Unl, Dav-2445. A beautiful and fleeting Reformation anniversary commemorative issue, featuring a powerful scene of Jerusalem on the reverse. This choice AU example displays only the faintest of rub on the design high-points and the surfaces have toned delightfully in a distinguished cabinet. Though appearing occasionally for auction in Europe, this is the first of the type we will have brought to auction.
