ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Harthacnut. 1035-1042. AR Penny (18mm, 1.13 g, 6h). Arm and Scepter type (BMC [Cnut] xvii, Hild. [Cnut] I). Norwich mint; Leofwine, moneyer. Struck in the name of Cnut, 1040-1042. Diademed bust left, holding trefoil-tipped scepter / + LEOFPINE ON NORPIC, quadrilateral, with pellet in center and angles, over voided short cross. SCBI 40 (Stockholm), 1902 (same dies); North 799; SCBC 1169. Lightly toned, worn reverse die. Near EF. Rare.
