Lot description: ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Harthacnut. 1035-1042. AR Penny (17mm, 1.24 g, 1h). Jewel Cross type (BMC xx, Hild. K). London mint; Eadric, moneyer. Struck in the name of Cnut, circa 1036-1037. Diademed bust left / + EDRIC ON LVNDE(NE), cross composed of four ovals united at base by two concentric circles. SCBI 40 (Stockholm), 101 (same dies); North 797; SCBC 1160. Light golden toning with significant luster, slightly double struck obverse. EF. Extremely rare. From the Causeway Collection.
